A.J. Smith is one of the top print makers in the south and a Professor of Art at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. His work can be seen in solo and group exhibitions wherever cutting edge printmaking can be found. His monoprints, mixed media lithographs, and graphite drawings are collected by museums, corporate and private collectors throughout the United States. His recent experimentation with African American imagery has won A.J. praise from curators and garnished design and purchase awards. Serious collectors of the his work include the Schomburg Center for Black Research Museum in Harlem, the United States Library of Congress, The Arkansas Arts Center, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
