American (b. 1965)


Cassity grew up in Northeastern Louisiana and has been painting since the age of 9. He received his B.F.A. from Louisiana Tech University in 1988 and then spent twenty years in North Carolina after attending postgraduate studies at Eastern Carolina University. Highlights from Cassity’s resume include the Society of Illustrators National Scholarship Competition, The Artist’s Magazine’s Annual Art Competitions, Oil Painters of America’s National Exhibitions, the Art Renewal Center’s International Salons, and the International Guild of Realism’s Exhibitions. He also participated in the national museum exhibitions American Still Lifes and the International Guild of Realism’s Masterworks Museum Tour. Since 2011, Cassity has been creating his Kingdom series, utilizing origami dragons, Troll dolls, and characters with suggested scenarios. He is fully immersed in his still life studio, and his Kingdom still lifes continue to gain notice on an ever widening scale – inviting viewers into an imaginary world revealed in paint. Cassity currently works and lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Collectors of note include: R.W. Norton Museum in Shreveport, Louisiana, Pepsi Bottling Co., Burroughs-Wellcome in Greenville, North Carolina, the M.C.V. Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, Atlanta Foods International, and Arkansas Colleges of Health Education: College of Osteopathic Medicine.
